Overview
Duration: 9 Nights
Distance: 133 KM
Base Price: From €725.00
Walk one of Italy’s most beautiful sections of the Via Francigena on a 9-night journey from Lucca to Siena. This is the classic pace version of the route, designed for active walkers who enjoy full days on the trail and the satisfying rhythm of walk → rest → dine → repeat. Each stage takes you deeper into Tuscany’s golden landscapes, open farmland, stone villages, vineyards, and medieval skylines.
Your pilgrimage begins with a bonus day in Lucca, giving you time to stroll the city’s famous walls, Romanesque churches, leafy piazzas, and Puccini history. From there, the route heads south through Altopascio, San Miniato, Gambassi Terme, San Gimignano, and the legendary circular fortress of Monteriggioni. Some walking days are longer, but always rewarding—especially the Roman road segments, panoramic ridges, and quiet cypress-lined approaches.
The journey ends with a celebratory walk into Siena, entering its medieval gates before relaxing into a bonus day among museums, markets, wine shops, and the majestic Piazza del Campo. As always with Pilgrim Paths, this trip includes professional guides, van support, luggage transfers, hand-picked lodgings, breakfast and dinners, and a supportive community of fellow pilgrims.
A second itinerary — an 11-night gentle-pace version of the same route — is available for those who prefer shorter daily distances. But for travelers who love a solid day on foot, this is Tuscany at its finest: immersive, scenic, and deeply rewarding.
